The Rivalry: Lansing City VS ABK Futsal
THe Showdown
On January 5th at 7PM, Lansing City Futsal will take on ABK Futsal at the Aim High Sports Complex. The two teams met earlier this year in Grand Rapids. Lansing City ran away with it, winning by a score of 10-3. The history between the two clubs goes from the Professional side down through the Youth Academy. Being the two predominant futsal clubs in Michigan, the competition is always fierce.
Players to Watch
ABK's Jessie Zamudio and Jeo Pantoja will lead ABK against City on the 5th. Zamudio has featured for ABKs Pro side for three years and also featured on the US Futsal National Team. Pantoja is a bright player with a history of success in the Grand Rapids area. City's Jeremy Klepal, Aldony Mendez, and Alexis Mendez will be leading the squad against ABK on the 5th. The trio have looked extremely dangerous together and have led City to a display of attacking dominance helping the team score 24 goals in their first two games. Alexis has featured for the US Futsal National team, his brother Aldony featured on the professional soccer level in Guatemala, and Klepal played for Sao Paulo FC in Brazil and featured on the U.S Futsal Federation Pacific Cup squad. There will be a dramatic spark of futsal talent clashing on the 5th.
